Should’ve posted it a long time ago, but for some reason got lazy to publish (also, had to spend time moving to a new host) and it got buried in my drafts. Nevertheless, posting this in my blog to document what happened (and what I wore, LOL)

Anyway, for the heck of it, I attended our Uni’s party for graduates. I never even knew these things existed! It all seemed to high school and was actually laughing at the whole idea of it. Well, until Enzo asked me to go with him. I like free food, and free stuff in general, so let’s do this.

somajins formal

Somajins, in formal attire!

Then again, I’m glad I did attend, because I got to see my friends dressed like this. How often does this happen? Certainly not during the weekly GAs we used to go to. Not even in the supposed “formal” induction activities or the likes. Not that I care for those kinds of things, but it’s a rare event. And definitely worth a picture.

food

Le dinrar

So this was the bland food we (well, Enzo) paid for and spent a good hour trying to eat properly with all manners in check. Seriously. Give this to me at LB Square and I’d be chewing that lettuce with my mouth open LOL. The formality of the event just seemed so incongruous, IMO. As Miguel said, “We paid 300 pesos to dress up, watch a boring programme, and eat bland food in a hot gym”. He was right. Whiny, but right.

miguel x orange

Well, at least he got to enjoy his orange.

funny face

My date for the evening. Yep, this is his default face.

As seen in the two photos above, the place had horrible lighting, and these two friends of mine should always have photos of them photobombing themselves in every occasion. Yes, those awkward photos are necessary.

Pau

with aryan's friends

With some friends. That pretty light leak-ish thing was Enzo’s thumb on the lens LOLFAIL

Since I’m pretty much old now (cough Grad School cough) I barely recognized any of the young kiddies. So I made sure I did get a photo taken with those I knew. On the top Photo was my friend Pau, who finished her MSCS degree in the exact time required. No delays in thesis or those kinds of things. I feel ashamed of myself now, since I took waaay too long. At the bottom photo I was with my sister’s friends Cla and Sandra. My sister was supposed to graduate with them. I’m still mad at how her sadistic panel screwed her over. Not literally, but I still hate them.

enzo and teeth

Time Travellers. Also me, smiling with teeth.

Enzo actually had this idea to dress up all match-y in 1920s speakeasy style, but I sort of thought that the flapper look might not be formal enough (also, my hair is a bit too long and I’m a bit too fat to pull that off) so I did a more 1950s look instead. You know, post-war times and people can afford a bit of opulence. Plus Audrey Hepburn hair. I like dressing up. Let’s do this.

Again, note the rare smile with teeth. You probably won’t see that again, well at least it won’t always look that nice.

time travellers

old photo

We just had to, LOL. Top edit by Enzo, bottom edit by me.

hehe

Okaaay, so might’ve overdone it with the anachronistic roleplay. Then again, why not?

photobooth

More photobooth abuse with the gang. Miguel looks like a random photobomber at the back. Chin looks extra happy in the bottom photo.

An assortment of photos that cannot be explained. Everyone knows I’m a camwhore, and I shall take everyone with me! Especially on such a night where everyone is all dolled up. Yes. This was necessary.

 Hair and Makeup

This is necessary, too.

Sorry I have to post a close-up of my face. I did my own hair and makeup for that evening, and I’m actually pretty proud of what I did. That hair took forever, unfortunately. It was supposed to be a lot more bouffant than that, but as soon as I stepped into Enzo’s car I hit my head (not used to the extra hair height, sorry) and it fell a bit. But I’m glad at least it stayed up all night.

Maybe I could do a tutorial for this look. Or not. I aint no beauty guru. I’m just a blogger with a lot of feelings.

Outfit 1

Requisite outfit photo. Peach organza dress from Mom, Clutch from SM, Shoes from Chelsea, Pearls from Palawan.

Enzo and I snuck out of the event early (Miguel did, too), because frankly things got too awkward and boring as soon as Ma’am Enriquez had to lead the crowd with her ballroom moves (so THAT’S why they called it a BALL). We found this new place in Campus (supposedly a tambayan for the orgs who got kicked out of their old tambayans). We took pictures, or rather I asked Enzo to take my photos for Lookbook. They turned out okay.

lookbook

Our bonds are even more dazzling than diamonds. Hype this look on Lookbook.nu

Come & clap your hands, make a sensation.
Forever stop the time
Sound the music, increase the heart beat
Raise both hands and ride on time.
This neverending tonight
-V6, Live Show

Enzo and I later had drinks and walked around campus after. Yes, in those clothes (and those 4.25-inch heels LOL). It was a fun night, I pretty much enjoyed myself despite the inherent stuffiness of the event. Guess it’s true that it’s not where you go but who you’re with that makes things fun.

I enjoyed making this post, and since this would be my first post after quite a hiatus (and first after moving hosts), I thought something lengthy and fun would be appropriate. I will be posting an entry about my graduation and a photoshoot I did in the coming entries. Toodles!

Giraffe Top

Hype on Lookbook!

I call this top my Kiseki no Hajimari top because it reminds me of V6′s PV for the said song (where they visited a planet with giraffe people). The first line of the song goes “beginnings are always sudden things”. How apt. My heels are from Liliw, Laguna. I’m just glad they didn’t snap when I slipped pretty bad (I’m rather clumsy) later in the day.

Miguel

I woke up to a text message from an anonymous number, saying that he misses me. Thankfully, it turned out to be my fabulous friend Miguel. We had dinner with Issa at Faustina’s. I just love everything on Faustina’s menu. Talk about comfort food!

Miguel is sad

Turns out, Miguel pretty much needed comfort food. I realized something: it’s a rite of passage. It doesn’t matter how proper you are. Or how mature. Or how smart/good looking/confident. That kind of situation is pretty much growing pains, you need to experience it. And everyone, no matter how awesome or fabulous, will give in and come to that at some point. I know I probably sound really cryptic here, but it would be tactless of me to reveal too much.

(Also, yes there is a need for two Miguel pictures. He’s a camwhore like that)

Joyce and Issa

Being the good friends we are, we refrained from giving unsolicited advice (at least, not while eating) and distracted him with light talks of the usual: anime, music, school, other people, and the good old days. Shallow stuff.

Bratwurst

I wasn’t very hungry, plus I knew I’ll still be having dinner at home, so I opted to just have Bratwurst. Chosen over Wienerli, Hungarian and Cheese Sausage because I love Doofenshmirtz.

Faustina's Spaghetti and Meatbombs

Miguel got Spaghetti and Meatbombs. Huge cheesy balls of meat on top of spaghetti with meat sauce. This is actually what I always order at Faustina’s and would’ve been my choice if I were a bit hungrier. It’s so yummy. So… comforting. Happy food.

Faustina's Soy Chicken and Salad

Issa just had her gallbladder removed and there are a lot of things she couldn’t eat. I don’t really understand her list, but she seems happy with this dish. I recommended she get tomato french dressing for her salad (omnomnomnom).

At first she didn’t want to eat the flower on her salad:

Issa: I don’t eat flowers

Miguel: Of course you do. What about bulaklak ng saging? (they put it in savory dishes)

Issa: Ano yun, di ko yun alam?

Miguel: *tries to explain*

Me: cauliflower?

Meat Pie

Miguel treated us to Faustina’s amazing meat pie. I forgot exactly what meat pie this is (I think it’s the lamb and beef or something) but it was awesome. I was smiling at first bite and urged Issa to try it immediately even though she was still eating her meal.

CheesecakeCrepe

Crêpe a la mode and Cheesecake for dessert!

bill

We found it amusing that for a rather classy place, our bill was written at the back of a Karaoke song list.

Grin Loft

After eating we moved next door to Grin Loft for some console gaming.

Game face

Game face mode agad si Issa!

I had to sneak back home for a while after, but I went back down again soon. We were supposed to go Karaoke but somehow we changed our minds. We just drinks from 7-11 and walked around campus.

UPLB at night

We just stayed in the campus talking about whether hardboiling an egg is a physical or chemical reaction (of course it’s chemical, we just thought they some people  sucked at teaching it in High school). We talked about gays being some sort of mutation that controls population. And how the quality of humans are declining because women do not give birth during their prime age (due to lack of education or just a choice to marry later), and mutations in the human population in general. We also pondered upon how homo sapiens seem to be the only ones in the animal kingdom where the females are the ones supposed to attract the males. Weird stuff. Probably stuff for some future blog post. Oh, and we also talked about Miguel’s love life.

face of a broken heart

This is the face of a broken heart. LOL PEACE MIGUEL! 8D

Still blogging about our Palawan trip. I thought there were too many photos for one post so I split them up. Part I can be found here. I forgot to mention, photos were taken with either my Canon EOS 450D (with a busted kit lens) and Adele’s Canon D10. I can’t tell the difference anymore though =))

mudkips

I heard you liek mudkips. We saw a lot of them on the boat dock after the mangrove tour. They were so cute! They would jump away when you get too close. They’re kinda like frogs but they look like fish and it’s a bit less disgusting. Spot several in this photo (click to enlarge)

After the mangroves tour, my dad wanted to go ziplining. Our van driver took us to Ugong Rock, an odd limestone rock in the middle of the field. I’d have to check my Earth Science notes from Ma’am D’ so I could tell you how it got there, though. Anyway, we find out that to be able to zipline, we need to spelunk/rock-climb to the top of the rock. We weren’t prepared for it, but whatever.

Something is weird about this year’s summer – it’s cold! Really, it feels like November. Luckily my family went on a trip to Puerto Princesa, Palawan the other day and the weather there had at least some semblance of real summer.

I fell in love with that city! I’ve been to different places, but Puerto Princesa was very organized. They had this system for tourism that everyone follows, and they were able to make it work. The locals were awesome. Everyone seemed so proud of what their town had to offer, and they did not hesitate to recommend places to visit and food to eat. It’s like they were actually having fun being of service to the tourists and not just into it for the money. Talk about hospitality! Not once did we feel that someone was trying to rip us off.

The beaches, rivers etc. we visited were untouched. It’s all about eco-tourism so outside of the main city, there were hardly any peddlers and stores. The plants and animals were enjoyed in their natural habitat, too!

Photos do not do justice to the beauty of the place, but nevertheless, I have a massive photo post for you below.

Plane

On the plane from MLA. We took an afternoon flight. I was sitting by a west-facing window, and as the setting sun shone it hit the embellishments on my top. To my cabin-mates, I apologize for the unwanted disco effect, hehehe.

GPS

My dad brought along his GPS, and it was strangely fun to see where you are and how many kilometers way you are from your destination. Helps, since all you see out the window are clouds. This is also perfect in case you have kids who keep asking “are we there yet?”

hula hoop girlShe’s either hooping on her thighs/knees (I’ve yet to learn this) or she’s about to drop the hoop

You might remember a few posts back, I wanted a hula-hoop for my birthday. I started hooping again because I want to lose weight. I used to jog a lot but the weather has become unpredictable and I always get rained on. So I need a new workout, and I want something I can do without leaving the house. Because I’m kinda crazy, I chose hooping. NGL, I was a bit ashamed about this choice since hooping is considered child’s play/retro “nagpapasexy” craze. But meh, I don’t care anymore. As soon as I learn some tricks, I don’t care if you ask me to hoop at Freedom Park. I’d even bring a boom box and blast some V6 eurobeat mix.

I learned how to hoop last year. Because I’m a klutz with very very poor motor skills (I’m worse than you, I can guarantee), it took me almost two months to learn the most basic hooping. Now that I’m hooping again after a year, it felt like I was starting over. But soon I got used to it faster than it took me to learn, except that I can’t hoop clockwise as well as I could before. (I should work on that) So far, I think I work out harder when I hoop than when I jog. To be able to keep the hoop up, you need to keep moving consistently. You can’t slow down all of a sudden, and you certainly can’t stop. You’re forced to keep the intensity high, unlike jogging where you can slow down when you’re tired.

According to the Mayo Clinic, you’ll need to hoop at least 10 minutes per day to be able to feel the benefits. Right now I hoop for 15-20minutes, twice or thrice a day. I hoop to V6 music because I’m a fangirl like that. Kamisen is awesome /fangirldigress. Anyway, some forum posters say that hooping burns 100 calories for every 10 minutes! Since my hoop isn’t weighted (wasn’t able to find a weighted one), I think I burn less than that. A weighted hoop would provided resistance and work your abs/core harder too. DAMN WHY IS A WEIGHTED HULA HOOP SO ELUSIVE HERE???

Other benefits of hooping is that they say it’s good for digestion and lower back.

Aside from hooping, I’m also watching what I eat. Based on my research, someone my height and frame should consume 1500 calories per day in order to lose weight. I’m not big on calorie counting, because I believe health is about eating good quality food in moderation. But since I’m desperate trying for 1300kcal every day. So far it’s not so bad. My pitfalls are munching on cashews and eating yogurt for dessert. I found out a handful of cashews has 120 calories OMG and I eat so much of it!

I’ve been hooping consistently for 2 weeks now, and I’ve been on the 1300kcal diet since this week. I’ve lost  3cm on my waist already (my weight fluctuates for some reason though. Can’t say whether I’ve gained or lost any weight). Still so far from my goal size, but at least I see a bit of result. Will keep at it until I lose weight/get bored. And hopefully, I could get one of those real weighted hula hoops, so that I can get results faster.
