I bring my laptop everyday to work. I place it in a sleeve and just dump it in my Totoro bag or any tote big enough to fit it. Sadly, I sometimes walk home or commute around a bit, and I don’t think carrying that much weight is good for my shoulder. So I’m looking for a laptop backpack. I’m very particular with the “backpack” part because I need the weight evenly distributed.

Sadly, most laptop backpacks are either

  1. Too masculine
  2. Too bulky
  3. Too casual-looking, like a highschooler’s daypack.

Of course, being the vain person that I am, I want a really stylish one. Imagine wearing a nice blouse and trousers and then carrying a super casual backpack (had to link, can’t help it. They have the pushiest, most annoying sales attendants. I’ll say “Thanks, but I want something more classic and feminine-looking” , “Ma’am we have it in red, pang babae… classic po yan pwedeng pang opisina”… STFU PLZ!)

Anyway, I’m obviously looking for a certain look. I scoured the internet and below are my choices.

1. Hasso Bags

Hasso

Hasso Vega

Hasso Casas

Hasso Casas

So I found out about this Columbian brand Hasso and all it’s awesomeness. It’s EXACTLY what I want. My boyfriend is biased towards the Vega (because it’s green and shares his last name), but I think the Casas might suit my needs more. Sadly, they don’t seem to have any stockist here in the Philippines.  Also, they’re both over $100, which is too much to spend on a backpack, imo. Although I’ve read good reviews for this and apparently these bags are of superior quality.

2. Herschel

Herschel Little America

Herschel Little America

Herschel Little America

Even though this back is kinda big, I really like the vintage hiking bag look of Herschel’s Little America. We actually have Herschel here in the Philippines, but they only have limited colors. But then again, I guess that’s a good thing since I can’t choose the color I want myself. I narrowed it down to these three: drab green, denim, striped.

Again, these bags are super expensive, and I think the quality isn’t as good as the Hasso (based on reviews). Still, availability is a plus.

3. Eastpak

Eastpak Klosser Cottown in Beige

Now this bag, I’m sure is available here. I actually spotted it in Bratpack last time I checked. It’s also expensive (Php4,999), and somehow does not seem very sturdy. I like the size and the style, although the beige seems much lighter IRL and I’m afraid it’ll get dirty easily.

If all else fails, I’ll probably cop this one.

Why are laptop backpacks so expensive? I’m a bit hesitant to shell out this much on a bag. But then again, many other women buy LVs and Pradas and other designer bags. Name aside, if we’re paying for quality, then I guess that price is reasonable. I just have too much vanity in me to give in to my inner scrooge and buy that Hawk one. I don’t want bags like that huhuhu.

Do you know of any cute laptop backpacks? How much are you wiling to spend on a backpack? Post your comments.

Ang photoshoot na sobrang daming aberya. >.<

rock and metal

My newest muse, Arjane. I’ve been wanting to shoot her since she was a freshman! We finally got around to it a few days before our graduation day haha!

I actually kind of like this photo, the cutter thing looks scary, and Pier’s expression looks unsure and a bit scared. But I don’t get the point of this photo? Is she trying to endorse DeWALT or something? /fail

This one’s a little better. Just a little.

These photos aren’t supposed to turn out like this. The concept is waaaay off our initial peg. It was supposed to be a classy non-cliche rock-chic theme outdoor daytime shoot with lots of shiny stuff. And Arjane was supposed to be the only model, we planned about 3 outfits and scouted different outdoor locations. This was probably one of those shoots we planned ahead that much.

But on the day itself, it rained. Arjane got some delays travelling from Manila. My friend Mark was supposed to shoot with us but he couldn’t make it. By the time we were able to get things going, it was 8 PM.

You’d think I would’ve given up much sooner (from a 1pm to an 8pm shoot. What.), but somehow I didn’t. I’m used to delays in shoots with Pier (because sometimes we get lazy), and I’m used to things not going my way. So I trudged on. Little did I know that this shoot would test my patience. We ended up just shooting in the basement/garage of Pier’s house, romancing all the powertools (so much for non-cliche).  Well, simply because that’s probably the only place in her house that we haven’t shot yet. (so much for the rooftop with plenty of natural light idea).

Since we were shooting at her house, at night, anyway, Pier decided to model too. Well that was a good decision at least. We went on, shooting and shooting til almost midnight. Nothing went as planned with this shoot and I just wanted at least one halfway decent photo to show for it.

I’m not sure if these ones I got are good enough. If you were critical, you’d see that this set is incoherent, cliche, badly lit and overall weird.

Me flanked by my (skinny)  muses. They made me dress up too LOL. But I don’t have a good photo of myself.

I was the only one not wearing heels so I’m the shortest one here.

I like it, though. After everything that happened, these now have sentimental value to me. For the memories, and for the lessons learned, these shall remain in my blog.

Sorry if this entry is weird. I was just waiting for some file transfers to finish as I typed this. Also, I’m super sleepy. It’s 2AM and I have to be up early to print things, then off to Manila for some stuff. Joyce is out, peace.

So I had to brave some 37 deg C heat to be able to attend a ceremony which represent my success in earning a degree despite procrastination. Honestly, after being there before (think undergrad) and with no one to watch me march, I thought that the commencement exercises were rather pointless. I slept in until about 3:30pm (assembly time was 2pm LOL but based on previous experience it’s best to be late).

But sayang ang dress, rent ng toga, etc etc. Also, I wanted to take pictures with my batchmates and friends. So I dragged myself down there. Yep, it was hot. And the cap, hood and gown we had to wear didn’t help either.

with enzo

Bumped into Enzo first thing. Notice how sleepy I still look. Enzo just got back from SG then, he skipped the grad practice so he decided to go there early. Meaning he was under the sun for far longer. I’m surprised he survived.

with Ma'am Ynion

With our super cute SOMA adviser Ma’am Jhoanne Ynion, who finished her MS Statistics degree. She looked super cute when she marched on stage, in between two other tall graduates. ^_^

Eventually, I decided to put on the cap and gown. That hood was pretty difficult to wear, we had to safety pin it, or else it would climb up our necks, and well look awful. The other graduates even attached a string at the back so it wouldn’t open up too much. Clever.

with Mark and Ariel

Later, I found some of my batchmates (the others were hiding from the heat inside baker hall). In this photo is Mark, with the highest GWA in our batch (check out that fancy medal on him); and Ariel, who finished his Masters exactly on time. And then there’s me, with the lowest GWA and delayed by a year thanks to laziness and procrastination. LOL I really should get my life together.

group pic

Class picture, minus Ma’am Pam, who opted out of the ceremony because she had a family outing and Kuya Dags, who was in Baker Hall with his family.

There was actually a photobomber in this picture. It was that same guy from MS whatever who had a seat beside Ariel or Mark. He was annoying and noisy and rude and kept on making unnecessary remarks at whoever was talking on stage. I even turned around and raised my eyebrow at him at one point. Really, those people. I guess even with a Masters degree form UPLB, one can still be a first-class douche.

Anyway, I cloned him out. If you look closely, you can see some broken bokeh in between Mavs and Cecille.

with Enzo and Miguel

with Enzo and Miguel. Enzo said he felt out of place because he didn’t have a hood. My sister said the bachelor’s degree grads looked like “magpapagupit lang sila sa barbero” in their plain black togas. I kinda envy Miguels’ fancy silver DVM gown and hood though.

Thank goodness nighttime was a bit cooler. And thank goodness it didn’t rain. The ceremony seemed to have taken longer than I remember. My seatmate Mark actually had food delivered. We were bored and hungry and our feet hurt. Until now, I didn’t quite see the point of me going there. But I’m still glad I did.

Finally, the whole thing ended. They had fireworks and actual time allotted for the protesters. Well at least they wouldn’t have to interrupt UP Naming Mahal.

we look so happy

We look so happy LOL

Perhaps because the ceremony finally ended, or we were really just happy and feeling thankful that we actually finished our degrees. Yeah, we need a wacky photo to end this post.

That’s all. I just wanted the photos in here anyway. After all that heat, tired feet and waiting that I endured, I should at least post something that will someday make me feel nostalgic after reading.

Hi! I moved to a new host and this post is to test if things like the feeds etc. are working properly.

I moved this blog to another host. Because my old host, a free one, always went down for 1-2 hours every other day or so and wouldn’t let me use Aksimet. Hopefully, it would be better with this new host especially since now I’m actually paying for it.

Test post to see if everything is working out properly.
